VersaEmerge singer Sierra Kusterbeck has one of the best voices out there as far as we’re concerned.
That voice makes VersaEmerge’s full-length debut, Fixed at Zero, one of the most intriguing, infectious and incendiary albums of the year. Sierra infuses a timeless rock ‘n’ roll style into flourishes of Anthony Green-esque alternative that creates an entrancing and engaging trip. Make no mistake about it, Fixed at Zero is one hell of a trip…
Sierra is allowing ARTISTdirect.com to take that ride with her via her exclusive ARTISTdirect.com blog, “Sierra’s Corner.” Monthly, Sierra will share her thoughts on anything and everything and bringing us closer to VersaEmerge in the process.
Check out the first installment below where Sierra gives us her take on Christmas, her birthday and the holidays!

“The holidays are here! We’re either running around like headless chickens buying gifts for people or we’re busy making gift list for the headless chicken people. Which one are you?
Either way it’s madness that I’ve never been a huge part of. Down here in sunny side up Florida, it’s very hard to get into spirit. I’ve literally spent my Christmases skim boarding. But we do decorate our palm tree, order about 20 Tortuga rum cakes to give to friends and neighbors, pile on the jackets when it gets down to 60 degrees, and watch boats decorated in outrageously corny festive lights ride by our dock for the annual Christmas boat parade.
So needless to say, Florida folk do things a little differently. But let’s not forget what it’s really about! The love of family, kindness, giving and little baby Jesus or whatever it is you believe in.
Some of my best memories of Christmas are when we went to visit my family in Kansas. Yes, my family lives in Kansas. They are pretty traditional and get all the cousins, uncles, aunts, great aunts, grandmas and grandpa’s—including all the weirdos who were married in. We all decorated cookies and even took a trip on a horse and buggy ride thru the snowy forest.
Oh yea! I almost forgot, my birthday is December 18th… And this year I turn 20… Not to bust on older people, but damn! Can I just stay 19 forever!? Does this mean I have to act like an adult or assume certain responsibilities? Well I’ll be staying young at heart that for sure.
I’ll also be saying my final farewell to my teenage years somewhere in Italy. So, can’t complain. Also Devin’s birthday is directly next to Christmas and Blake just turned 22 in late November, we’re all Sagittarius!
Hope everyone has an amazing holiday. And make sure to check out Versaemergemusic.com/shows and get tickets to our upcoming holiday shows around FL and GA. They start right after Christmas! See you soon Salutations!”
